Fortinet's new report has just been published within the framework of the Accelerate Asia 2022 annual conference held on the afternoon of June 9.








In the context that more and more organizations are applying modern technologies such as cloud computing, automation, artificial intelligence, blockchain, etc. to their operation and production processes, there is a lack of experts. Competent cybersecurity is becoming extremely critical.




Survey results in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong by Fortinet show that 71% of businesses surveyed are facing difficulties in recruiting qualified cybersecurity talent. In which, up to 63% of businesses said that the lack of skills poses a risk of serious consequences in terms of cybersecurity.

Another ISC (Cyber ​​Workforce Report) Cybersecurity Workforce Report 2021 shows that Asia-Pacific has the largest workforce shortage by region, amounting to 1.42 million people. Although the number has decreased compared to the previous year, it is clear that the Asia-Pacific region still needs more solutions.



Across Asia, 89% of organizations with a board say they are looking for a unique solution in terms of cybersecurity. Of these, up to 79% of organizations with a board of directors recommended increasing the number of full-time employees working in IT and cybersecurity.

Speaking about the situation in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Gia Duc, Country Director, Fortinet Vietnam said that one of the recruitment challenges is the admission of female staff, new university graduates and ethnic minorities.


Specifically, 76% of organizations rated the recruitment of new graduates as the top obstacle in recruitment. Meanwhile, 75% of the leaders said that the problem then is the recruitment of female workers for this industry. The remaining 62% think that recruiting ethnic minorities is also very difficult.


"In the context of rapidly changing cyberattacks, skills also need to change to promptly adapt," Duc said. "It is necessary to aim at building a force of cybersecurity experts with comprehensive knowledge and skills for Vietnam," he affirmed.
